Yuma, Ariz, – The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic collision involving a school bus at an intersection in Yuma on Monday morning.
The accident happened at about 7:14 a.m. in the area of Avenue B and County 12 ½ Street. Deputies with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and located a Yuma Union School Bus and a Dodge Durango.
According to a preliminary investigation, the school bus was heading north on Avenue B behind an agricultural bus making a right turn onto County 12 ½ Street.
As the school bus merged into the second lane the Dodge traveling west on County 12 ½ Street failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left turn on Avenue B and the school bus struck the driver's side of the Durango.
Firefighters from the Rural Metro and Somerton/Cocopah Fire responded to the scene.
Authorities said minor injuries were reported from both the bus and vehicle passengers, adding that three juveniles were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center by Somerton/Cocopah Fire.
A few other kids were also taken by their parents for further medical assessments. An investigation into the incident is underway.
