San Luis Obispo, CA. – Three people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision that happened Sunday afternoon near Shandon in San Luis Obispo.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 1:42 p.m. on Highway 46 at McMillan Canyon Road.
CHP officers responded to the scene and found a 1998 Lexus sedan and a 2015 Toyota Highlander involved in the crash.
An initial investigation revealed that a 17-year-old minor was driving the Lexus northbound on West Centre Street when they moved directly into the path of the Toyota, which was being driven eastbound on Highway 46 by a female driver.
The vehicles collided.
The Toyota stopped in the median, and the Lexus came to rest on the shoulder of the road.
Three people were injured in the crash, according to Cal Fire. One patient was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries, and the other two were taken to the hospital by ground ambulance with moderate injuries.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
