3 People Suffer Major Injuries in Head-on Crash on Highway 299 in Redding

, California (April 25, 2022) – Three people were seriously injured following a Redding head-on collision on Monday evening, authorities have reported.

The crash happened at about 6:18 p.m. on eastbound Highway 299 at the Old Oregon Trail off-ramp and involved a newer-model black Chevy Camaro and a white Toyota Tacoma.

The driver of the Tacoma crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck the Chevy Camaro, CHP officials said.

Two people were trapped inside the white Tacoma and sustained major injuries. According to the CHP, one of the patients had an open wound fracture.

The female driver of the Camaro also sustained major injuries in the crash.

The cause of the crash was not immediately determined.

The incident remains under investigation.
