Three Injured in Minivan Crash on 7th Avenue in Longview

Longview, WA. – Three people were seriously injured after a minivan ran off the roadway and crashed into an apartment building Thursday morning in Longview, the Longview Fire Department reported.

The incident took place around 11:21 a.m. near the 1000 block of 7th Avenue.

According to authorities, a minivan with an elderly man behind the wheel ran off the road, struck a , and slammed into an apartment building, trapping a person on the other side between the vehicle and an inside wall of the building.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a person unconscious on the lawn outside the , the trapped person inside, and the driver of the van inside the vehicle.

The responders used chainsaws to cut a hole through the outside of the building to remove the person trapped inside. The victim, only identified as a woman, was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The pedestrian, also a woman, and the man driving the minivan were transported to the hospital by ground ambulance.

Both women were listed in critical condition. The condition of the man was not mentioned.

According to investigators, the driver of the van may have suffered a medical event prior to the collision.

The residents of the apartment building were evacuated, pending inspection of the building's structural stability.
