At Least 4 Injured in La Quinta Crash on Avenue 48 and Dune Palms Drive
La Quinta, California (September 19, 2022) – At least four people were injured in a collision involving a suspected DUI motorist in La Quinta on Sunday evening, according to a report by the authorities.
The crash was reported at around 4:49 p.m. on September 18, on Avenue 48 and Dune Palms Drive.
According to the report, a 2021 Dodge Durango was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Avenue 48 when it slammed into the rear of a 2009 Nissan Rogue carrying four people.
The impact caused the Nissan to roll over.
The occupants of the Nissan were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with significant injuries.
The driver of the Dodge declined medical treatment. Authorities arrested the driver and booked him into the John Benoit Detention Center for felony DUI.
The Thermal Sheriff's Station's La Quinta Traffic Team is investigating the incident.
