Crystal Lake, California (November 20, 2021) – Two children and two adults were killed in a wrong-way car crash on Interstate 80 near Crystal Lake in the Sierra.

The tragic incident happened on the 80 Freeway near Eagle Lakes Road at about 4:42 a.m

California Highway Patrol said three vehicles were involved in the collision. One of the cars was traveling the wrong way when the collision happened.

Two children and two adults in one vehicle were killed in the crash. A baby in that car survived and was airlifted to the hospital.

Two other people including the wrong-way driver were injured in the crash.

The identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.

CHP officers believe alcohol was a factor.

The eastbound lanes of were temporarily blocked as the officers carried out an investigation.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
