Mesa, AZ – Several people were injured in a collision that took place in Mesa early Wednesday morning, according to the Mesa Police Department.
The accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. near Dobson Road and Broadway.
Police said a Chevrolet driver failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and collided with a Toyota.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to spin and it collided with multiple objects.
The Chevrolet ended up in a parking lot.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
A passenger in the Chevrolet was hospitalized with major injuries while two others in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
The operator of the Toyota was also treated for minor injuries.
DUI is suspected to have played a role in the accident, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
