A Mazda was traveling northbound on the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Toyota Camry

San Diego, Calif. – At least five people were injured in a wrong-way car crash that happened in San Diego on Friday morning.
The collision happened on State Route 163 near Robinson Avenue at around 3:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.
Authorities say a white Mazda was traveling northbound on the southbound lanes of the highway when it collided head-on with a gray Toyota Camry.
Four people were trapped in the Camry and had to be extricated by the emergency crews before being taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Mazda driver was hospitalized before being arrested on suspicion of DUI.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
