5 Dead after US Marine Osprey Military Aircraft Crashes near Mexico Border

Glamis, California (June 9, 2022) – All five crew members aboard the MV-22B Osprey military plane died after the aircraft crashed into the Southern California Desert on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred near Glamis, just a few miles north of the Mexico border at around 12:25 p.m., June 8.
According to the Naval Air Facility El Centro, the aircraft belonging to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego crashed after an aviation mishap.
Officials say all the occupants of the aircraft, first flown in 1989, died in the tragic crash.
The names of the deceased marines were not immediately released.
“We mourn the loss of our Marines in this tragic mishap. Our hearts go out to their families and friends as they cope with this tragedy,” said Maj. Gen. Bradford J. Gering, commanding general of 3rd MAW, in the statement.
