Fairfield Woman Killed in Colusa County Crash on Interstate 5 near Maxwell

Maxwell, California (September 21, 2022) – A 54-year-old woman died following a big rig collision south of Maxwell in Colusa County on September 14, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 5.

CHP said the Fairfield woman was driving a vehicle northbound on Interstate 5 when she drifted west across the center divide and collided with a southbound 2019 Kenworth Tractor Trailer Combo driven by 40-year-old Hector Yerbal Hernandez, of Modesto.

A southbound vehicle driven by 30-year-old Kaifeng Xhang, of Houston, was unable to avoid the wreck and collided with the first vehicle.

CHP said the Fairfield woman, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

All parties involved in the accident were reportedly wearing their seatbelts.

The crash caused to be shut down for over two hours as authorities investigated the incident.

The CHP is conducting an investigation into the crash.

Colusa County, California (September 14, 2022) – One person was killed in a head-on collision involving a semi- in Maxwell, just north of , on Wednesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened at around 12:36 p.m. on southbound 5 Freeway near Maxwell Road.

A vehicle was traveling southbound when it reportedly drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with a semi-truck.

The vehicle was then struck by another semi-truck.

CHP says one person died in the crash.

The deceased person was not publicly identified.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
