Brawley Woman Dies in El Centro Accident on State Route 86 and Norm Niver Road

El Centro, California (February 7, 2022) – A 57-year-old Brawley woman was killed in a collision involving two vehicles at an intersection in El Centro early Sunday morning, according to the authorities.
At around 12 a.m. February 6, L. Saurberg, 46, of Brawley was reportedly driving a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse west on Norm River Road when she collided with a 2008 Dodge Avenger, driven southbound on SR 86 by M. Gamboa, 58, of Highland.

The 57-year-old Brawley woman was a passenger in the Traverse and died in the collision.
Saurberg and one other party, V. Miranda, 32, of Brawley, were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
I. Valles, 57, of El Centro, and M. Valles-Garcia, 56, of Brawley, suffered major injuries and were both taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital.
Gamboa also had major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center.
Authorities said several victims involved in the collision were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
Impairment was not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
