Six Hurt in Azusa Plane Crash near Highway 39 and East Fork Road

, California (March 20, 2022) – Several people were injured when a Sheriff's Department helicopter crashed in the Angeles National Forest near Azusa on Saturday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened at around 4:58 p.m. March 19, near the Reservoir located near East Fork Road and Highway 39.

The green Air Rescue 5 helicopter was reportedly responding to a call in the area when it went down.

The helicopter came to a rest on its side near San Gabriel Dam.

Deputies Injured in Azusa Helicopter Crash near Highway 39 and East Fork Road 

Six people aboard the plane were flown to valley Medical Center. One of the patients had critical injuries, two had moderate injuries, and two sustained minor injuries.

Authorities said five of the passengers were deputies.

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation into the incident.
