Sacramento, CA. – A 71-year-old man was killed following a motorcycle collision late Thursday night in Fruitridge Pocket, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at around 10:45 p.m. on June 20, in the southbound lanes of Stockton Boulevard at 16th Avenue.
Police said a 1999 Dodge pickup was heading southbound on Stockton when it stopped at 16th Avenue. The Dodge was then making a left turn onto northbound Stockton Boulevard after visually clearing the roadway when a southbound Harley-Davidson slammed into the Dodge driver's side door.
The motorcyclist, a 71-year-old Sacramento man, was declared dead at hospital. His name was not immediately released awaiting notification of family.
The Dodge driver, a 41-year-old man from Sacramento, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigations.
The Dodge driver and the sole occupant of the pickup, was not hurt in the collision. The CHP officials confirmed the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the crash happened.
An investigation is ongoing.
