Several Injured in Paso Robles Crash at Highway 46 and Whitely Gardens
Paso Robles, California (February 12, 2022) – At least eight people were injured in a traffic collision at an intersection in Paso Robles on Saturday night following, authorities said.
The crash was reported at around 7:51 p.m. in the area of Highway 46 and Whitely Gardens.
California Highway Patrol established that Maria Garcia Dearteaga, 49, of Pahrump, NV, was driving an SUV southbound on River Grove Drive and did not notice an oncoming compact car in the westbound lanes.
The vehicles collided and came to rest in the fast lane of the highway.
Several Injured in Highway 46 Car Crash in Paso Robles
CHP said 62-year-old Mauro Jimenez, of Paso Robles, was driving a van westbound in the fast lane when he crashed into the disabled SUV.
Maria sustained moderate injuries and was flown to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Three passengers in the SUV and the two in the compact car sustained major injuries and were transported to Sierra Vista by ambulance.
Jimenez and a passenger in the van were taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
