According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Mazda pickup truck was heading east on Highway 58 when it slammed into the rear of a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck with a trailer

Bakersfield, CA.- The man who was killed in a collision with a big rig in Bakersfield early Saturday morning has been identified as Abram Raymond Perez, according to the authorities.
The incident took place on Highway 58 at Bena Road at about 3:43 a.m. April 26.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Mazda pickup truck was heading east on Highway 58 when it slammed into the rear of a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck with a trailer.
Perez was a passenger in the Mazda and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda was taken to Kern Medical Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
