Aislyn Tejeda Killed in Shafter Accident on Shafter Avenue and Burbank Street

Shafter, California (July 28, 2022) – Aislyn Kamila Tejeda, 1, of Bakersfield, was killed in a collision in Shafter Saturday afternoon, according to the Kern County Coroner's Office.
The incident took place on Shafter Avenue and Burbank Street just before 4:30 p.m. on July 23.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Irving Rodriguez-Barraza, 22, of Wasco, was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram east on Burbank Street when he ran a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a 2017 Jeep Cherokee traveling northbound on Shafter Avenue.
The impact pushed the Jeep into two power poles and an almond tree. The Jeep came to a rest on its driver's side.
Tejeda was a passenger in the Jeep and died at a hospital
The driver of the Jeep and two other passengers, including a 6-year-old, were hospitalized at Kern Medical.
Rodriguez-Barraza and his passenger were also transported to Kern Medical.
According to the CHP, Rodriguez-Barraza was suspected of drunk driving.
The accident remained under investigation.
