The California Highway Patrol said a tractor-trailer combination was traveling northbound on I-5 when it slammed into the rear of a stopped 2011 Subaru outback

Fresno County, CA.- The man who was killed in a collision near Firebaugh in Fresno County on Monday morning has been identified as Alberto Rodriguez, 24, of Menlo Park, according to the Fresno County Coroner's Office.
The incident took place on Interstate 5 at about 12:05 a.m. December 2.
The California Highway Patrol said a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer combination was traveling northbound on I-5 when it slammed into the rear of a stopped 2011 Subaru outback.
The impact pushed the Subaru into the rear of a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer combination stopped in front.
A passenger in the Subaru was not properly restrained and was ejected.
The victim, identified as Rodriguez, died at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru and four other passengers were treated for minor to moderate injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
