Alyssa Aragon-Ramirez Killed in Cerritos Accident on 605 Freeway near South Street

Cerritos, California (February 20, 2022) – Alyssa Aragon-Ramirez, 26, was among two people who died in a crash involving a wrong-way driver in Cerritos early Friday morning, the coroner's office said.

The wreck happened at about 2:18 a.m. February 18, on southbound near South Street.

Authorities said a red 2021 Hyundai Elantra was stopped along the freeway when the driver made a U-turn and began traveling northbound.

The Hyundai crashed head-on into a southbound 2017 Honda Civic driven by Ramirez.

According to the report, both vehicles burst into flames after the crash.

A Good Samaritan reportedly stopped and pulled Ramirez from her car. 

The Good Samaritan performed CPR on her but she succumbed to her injuries to the scene.

The other driver, identified as a man, was trapped in his vehicle and also died at the scene of the crash.

The CHP is handling the investigation.
