Anabol Cisneros-Torres Hurt in Fatal Shasta County Crash on Highway 299 near Buckhorn Summit
Shasta County, California (August 19, 2022) – Anabol Cisneros-Torres, 44, was injured in a fatal big rig collision in Shasta County Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just before 6:33 p.m. August 18, on Highway 299 near Buckhorn Summit.
According to the CHP, a man was driving a white Kia four-door westbound on Highway 299 when he tried to overtake other vehicles on a sharp corner and lost control. The Kia swerved across the center line and collided with a semi-truck and trailer.
The driver of the Kia died in the collision.
Cisneros-Torres, who was driving the big rig, got out of the truck before it burst into flames. The flames spread to the nearby vegetation.
Authorities said Cisneros-Torres was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to less than an acre.
The identity of the deceased party was not immediately released.
The CHP is investigating the collision.
