Andreu Batholic Killed in Highway 101 Motorcycle Crash near Myers Flat

Myers Flat, California (June 16, 2022) – Andreu Shawne Batholic, 25, of Eureka, was among two people killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Monday afternoon near Myers Flat, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two motorcycles and a car were involved in the collision on Highway 101 at around 4 p.m. on June 13.
According to CHP, Batholic was driving a silver 2001 Toyota 4-Runner northbound on U.S. 101 when he crossed over the yellow lines and collided with two motorcyclists.
A group of five motorcyclists was traveling south on the highway when two of them were hit by the Toyota.
The impact ejected both motorcyclists from their bikes.
Batholic was killed in the crash, along with one of the motorcyclists who was riding a red 2022 Triumph Tiger motorcycle.
The rider has been identified as Anne Marie Anderson, 42, of Vancouver, Washington.
The second motorcycle that was hit by the Toyota, a blue 2018 BMW R1200 motorcycle, was being operated by Caleb Marquez, 38, of Portland, Oregon.
Marquez was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka with moderate injuries.
The CHP is still investigating the incident.

Myers Flat, California (June 14, 2022) – Caleb Marquez, of Portland, Oregon, was injured in a deadly motorcycle collision that occurred near Myers Flat on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 101 at about 4 p.m. on June 13.
CHP said a silver Toyota 4-Runner was heading north on U.S. 101 when, for undetermined reasons, it crossed over the center median and struck two motorcyclists.
The two were part of a group of five motorcycle riders traveling south on the highway.
The two motorcyclists were ejected by the impact of the crash.
One of the riders, who was operating a red Triumph Tiger motorcycle, was killed in the accident.
The driver of the Toyota also died in the collision.
Marquez was riding a blue BMW 1200 motorcycle and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka for treatment of moderate injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is working to find out the cause of the collision.
Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show
Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.
According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020. NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
The report indicates that the traffic fatalities in the following categories showed relatively large increases in 2021, as compared to 2020;
