Andrew Avalos ID'd as Driver Killed in Kiernan Avenue Collision in Modesto
Modesto, California (October 7, 2021) – The Stanislaus County Coroner's Bureau has identified the driver who died in a Thursday morning car crash in Modesto as Andrew Avalos, 25, of Ceres.
The 4 a.m. collision happened in the area of Kiernan Avenue and Tully Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
Avalos was driving a classic 1973 Datsun coup westbound on Kiernan when he allegedly failed to slow down at a red light and rear-ended a stopped Honda sedan.
A short time later, another car failed to stop and crashed into the rear of the disabled Datsun.

Avalos, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Doctors Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
