Surprise, AZ – 26-year-old Angel Salas Celaya was killed in a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Surprise late Monday night.
The Surprise Police Department said the mishap occurred at around 11:30 p.m. at Sarival and Waddell Roads.
According to a preliminary investigation a silver vehicle was attempting to turn onto Sarival Road when it was struck by a black car traveling on Waddell Road with no headlights on.
Celaya was extricated from the car and taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The police said speed and impairment were suspected as contributing factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
