, California (June 16, 2022) – Anthony Limon, 17, has been identified as one of the two people who were killed in a crash in Victorville on Tuesday morning.

The wreck occurred at around 5:46 a.m. at D St. and Air Express Way.

The California Highway Patrol said at least three vehicles were involved in the collision.

One of the drivers, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was killed in the crash.

Anthony, a resident of Colton, was a passenger in one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene,

The Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the cause of the crash.

Victorville, California (June 15, 2022) – A crash involving multiple vehicles left two people dead early Tuesday morning in Victorville, according to the authorities.

A dark 2001 Chrysler Sebring, a pickup , and a tractor-trailer combination were among the involved vehicles.

The crash was reported at around 5:47 a.m. on June 14, in the 14600 block of D Street near the I-.

The pickup was pushed off the side of the roadway and down an embankment while the big rig stopped on the side with moderate front-end damage.

The Chrysler had extensive damage and was stopped in the middle of the road.

Two people were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

One other victim had non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused the closure of D Street in both directions as authorities investigated the incident.

The Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is working to determine the cause of the incident.

Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show

Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.

According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020. NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.

The report indicates that the traffic fatalities in the following categories showed relatively large increases in 2021, as compared to 2020;

      • Fatalities in multi-vehicle collisions went up 16%
      • Fatalities among drivers 65 and older rose by 14%

      • Fatalities in crashes involving at least one large truck up 13%
      • Daytime fatalities up 11% Fatalities on urban roads up 16%
      • Motorcyclist deaths up 9% Bicyclist deaths up 5%
      • Fatalities in speeding-related mishaps up 5%
      • Fatalities in police-reported, alcohol-involvement collisions up 5%
