Antonio Gonzalez Injured in Deadly Madera County Accident on 7 1/2 Avenue near Firebaugh Boulevard

Madera County, California (March 28, 2022) – Antonio Gonzalez, 43, of Fresno was injured in a fatal car accident that took place in Madera County on Sunday evening, according to California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened at around 5 p.m. March 27, on 7 1/2 Avenue west of Firebaugh Boulevard.
CHP said an 89-year-old Firebaugh man was driving a Nissan Frontier westbound on 7 1/2 Avenue when he drifted into the eastbound lane, for unknown reasons.
An eastbound 2021 Toyota Venza attempted to swerve to avoid the Nissan but was sideswiped.
The Nissan then crashed head-on with an oncoming 2010 Toyota Sequoia driven by Gonzalez.
CHP said Gonzalez sustained minor injuries and was taken to Madera Community Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, Jael Louise Cook, 43, of Lemoore, was uninjured.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The crash is under investigation.
