Huntington Beach, Calif. – The authorities have identified the 55-year-old man who was killed by a hit-and-run driver last week as Arturo Becerril Rodriguez of Huntington Beach.

The collision occured at about 9:30 p.m. on February 9, 2024, on Edinger Avenue, just east of Edwards Street.

Authorities say a Toyota Prius, driven by Rodriguez, was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jyles Timothy Sellers, 24, of Huntington Beach.

Preliminary investigation showed Sellers was driving at a high rate of speed leading to the collision. Sellers was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

Huntington Beach, Calif. – A 55-year-old man was killed following a two-vehicle traffic collision in Huntington Beach on Friday night, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).

The deadly crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. on February 9, 2024, on Edinger Avenue, just east of Edwards Street.

According to HBPD, responding officers learned that a Chevy Silverado reportedly struck a Toyota Prius.

The driver of the Prius, a 55-year-old Huntington man, was critically injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died. His name was withheld pending next of kin notification.

The driver of the Silverado, a 24-year-old Huntington Beach man, fled the scene on foot but was soon apprehended by police officers.

Preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling westbound on Edinger Avenue when the speeding Silverado rear-ended the Prius.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and faces charges that include suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

The deadly incident remains under investigation.
