, California (September 9, 2021) – The crossing guard who died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in front of a middle school in Lafayette has been identified as Ashley Dias, 45, according to a local news source.

The accident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. September 8, outside Stanley Middle School, in the 3455 block of School Street.

As per the report, an SUV hit Dias and a child under unclear circumstances.

Dias sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. 

The child sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The SUV driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police.
