At Least 1 Suffers Major Injuries in Crash on Highway 111 near Rutherford Road in Brawley

Brawley, California (August 8, 2022) – At least one person was seriously injured when two vehicles collided, and one of them fell under a bridge Monday in Brawley, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck took place at around 1:22 p.m. on August 8, on Highway 111, just north of W Rutherford Road.
A gray 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid collided with a red Cadillac for unknown reasons. The Cadillac fell into the water under the bridge at New River, where it overturned upside down.
The Cadillac was reportedly occupied by at least one female party. The report said the occupants in that car were able to get out of the vehicle after the collision.
Major Injuries Sustained in Highway 111 Crash in Brawley
Brawley Police Department, firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene. A dive team from the Imperial County Sheriff's Department was also requested to respond.
The report said at least one person sustained major injuries in the accident. The person was hospitalized in unknown condition.
A heavy-duty tow truck was needed to recover the car from the river.
Police are investigating the collision.
