A head-on collision is a car accident that occurs when the front of a vehicle collides with the front of another car traveling in the opposite direction.
Head-on collisions can be more serious than other types of car accidents because most of them happen at high speeds.

In California, determining fault involves a thorough investigation of facts and circumstances surrounding the accident. This involves gathering evidence from the scene of the accident, witnesses, and other sources.
Generally, fault is determined on the basis of the negligence principle. Negligence is a failure to act with reasonable care, which results in injury to others. To prove fault, it is necessary to prove that one or more of the drivers involved in this head-on collision violated their duty to act reasonably and that that breach was the cause or a contributing factor to the accident. Factors that may be taken into consideration in determining fault for head-on collisions include:
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Driving while distracted.
Driving recklessly.
Driving with excessive speed.
Violation of any traffic laws.
Any road hazards.
Any external factors that contributed to the accident.
Once the fault is established, the responsible party or parties can be held liable for the injuries sustained in a head-on crash. Compensation can be awarded for medical bills, wages lost, property damage and other losses resulting from the accident.
