23-year-old Manuel Camacho Jr. died at the scene of the Monday morning collision on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway
Chatsworth, Calif. – The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the man who died after he was impaled by lumber that flew from a flatbed in a Chatsworth crash as Manuel Camacho Jr.
The 23-year-old man died at the scene of the accident that happened around 8:50 a.m. on the westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
Authorities said an SUV, a rental moving truck and a flatbed hauling lumber were involved in a crash, and the impact sent lumber from the flatbed through the cab of the moving truck.
Camacho was an occupant of the truck and got impaled by the lumber, dying at the scene.
Investigators closed several lanes of the freeway following the accident. Traffic was snarled for miles until all lanes were reopened around 12:15 p.m.

Los Angeles, Calif. – At least one person died in a traffic collision on Monday morning near Chatsworth in Los Angeles.
The deadly collision happened on the westbound Highway 118 near Topanga Canyon Road at around 8:49 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A big rig and a sedan were involved in the collision, but the circumstances surrounding the collision were not immediately established.
One person was killed in the accident.
