David Mendoza Arrested after Bakersfield DUI Crash on Colony Street and Panama Lane

Bakersfield, California (April 22, 2022) – A crash involving a suspected DUI driver and a police patrol vehicle happened at an intersection in Bakersfield on Wednesday night.
According to authorities, the patrol vehicle was making a turn south on Colony Street from Panama Lane when a driver ran a red light and struck them.
The incident took place just before 11:30 p.m. on April 21.
The police officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the accident.

A passenger in the second vehicle was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Bakersfield resident David Mendoza, 31, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and being in possession of a controlled substance for sale.
A K-9 unit in the patrol vehicle was unharmed in the collision.
The crash remained under investigation.
