One Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash on South Union Avenue near Jose Ramos Court
Bakersfield, California (November 19, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Friday morning semi-truck accident that killed one person and left two other female parties seriously injured in Bakersfield.
The deadly accident occurred at about 8:50 a.m. on South Union Avenue near Jose Ramos Court.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a GMC Envoy SUV was headed south on South Union Avenue approaching Jose Ramos Court in limited visibility due to fog when a semi-trailer crossed both southbound lanes.
Unfortunately, the SUV was unable to stop in time. The SUV reportedly crashed into the left side of the trailer.
Following the collision, the GMC was partially wedged under the trailer, the CHP said.
2 Injured in Fatal Truck Accident on South Union Avenue
Sadly, the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers in the SUV, a woman, and a young girl, suffered major injuries in the accident and were taken to Kern Medical for treatment. The girl was not secured in a car seat, the CHP said.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
