Motorcyclist Sustains Major Injuries Following Highway 99 Accident near 7th Standard Road in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California (November 8, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a traffic crash in north Bakersfield, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The major injury collision was reported shortly after 3:00 p.m. on the southbound side of Highway 99, just south of 7th Standard Road.
According to the CHP, a truck was traveling on the highway when it lost a part, which struck a motorcycle.
The impact caused the rider to fly off and land on the highway's right shoulder.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid to the motorcyclist who sustained major injuries as a result of the accident. The name and current condition of the rider were not available.
The truck driver did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
The No. 1 lane of southbound Highway 99 was closed due to the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
