, California (October 13, 2021) – Barbara Chrisman, 68, of Wofford Heights, was injured after being involved in a head-on collision on Tuesday evening in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at around 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 178, just west of Upper Ridgebar.

The CHP determined that a 25-year-old man was driving his vehicle westbound on Highway 178 at an unspecified rate of speed when he veered onto the right shoulder and hit raised asphalt curb.

The impact caused the driver to lose control of the car, which drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford Explorer driven by Chrisman.
