12-Year-Old Ben Biakanja Killed in Hollister Crash on Highway 156
Hollister, California (August 16, 2022) – 12-year-old Ben Biakanja of Carmel Valley, was killed in a collision that also left his mother and two sisters dead in Hollister on Sunday night, according to a local news source.
The tragic incident occurred on Highway 156 near Fairview Road at around 8:05 p.m. August 14.
According to CHP, Ben's mother, Lisa Biakanja, 55, of Carmel Valley, was driving a Tesla eastbound on Highway 156 when she swerved into the westbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming tractor-trailer.
Ben, Lisa and two other passengers in the Tesla, Lucy Biakanja and Leigh Biakanja, both 14, were all pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Hollister, California (August 15, 2022) – At least one person died in a Sunday night Highway 156 crash involving a big rig and a sedan in Hollister, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision took place at about 8:05 p.m. just east of San Felipe Road.
CHP said for reasons yet to be determined, a white sedan collided with a white semi-truck with a white trailer, blocking traffic lanes.
Responding firefighters and paramedics said one person died in the crash.
Traffic flow was affected in the area due to road closures as authorities investigated.
