Betty Cardoza Dies in Sonora Motorcycle Crash on Highway 108 near Mono Way

Sonora, California (July 1, 2022) – Betty Marie Cardoza, 57, of Tuolumne, has been identified as the woman who died in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday morning in Sonora.
At around 7:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a collision on Highway 108 at Mono Way.
Betty was riding a 2020 Harley-Davidson Glide when she crashed into the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Cruz that was merging onto westbound Highway 108 from the onramp at Mono Way.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist and sent the motorcycle nearly 200 feet down the embankment.
Betty was rushed to Memorial Medical Center where she died while undergoing treatment.
More details about the accident were not released.

Sonora, California (June 29, 2022) – A woman riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a vehicle on Highway 108 in Sonora on Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway patrol.
The incident happened at the Mono Way onramp at around 7:30 a.m. on June 28.
CHP said a 57-year-old Tuolumne woman was riding a 2020 Harley Davidson Street Glide westbound on the onramp when she tried to pass a big rig on the left side and collided with a westbound 2019 Chevrolet Cruse driven by Carlene Valdez, 70, of Jamestown.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist and sent the motorcycle nearly 200 feet down the embankment.
The woman was rushed to Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. Authorities said the rider was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the accident.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the incident.
Both directions of Highway 108 were blocked as crews cleared the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
