63-Year-Old Man Killed in Bakersfield Bicycle Accident on North Chester Avenue

, CA – A bicyclist died following a collision that took place in Bakersfield on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place on North Chester Avenue south of McCord Avenue at about 9:14 p.m. May 25.

The CHP said a 63-year-old man was riding a bicycle west across North Chester Avenue without any lighting equipment when he was hit by a northbound 2004 Chevrolet driven by a 28-year-old man.

The bicyclist was taken to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced deceased on Sunday.

The driver who hit the bicyclist reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The CHP is working to determine the cause of the collision.
