51-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed by Two Hit-and-Run Vehicles on 105th Avenue in Oakland

Oakland, CA. – 51-year-old James Brown died after he was struck by two vehicles while riding a bicycle last week in Oakland, police said.
The accident happened in the 500 block of 105th Avenue.
The cyclist was found just after 12 a.m. in the roadway, where he was pronounced dead.
Police initially believed James was struck by one vehicle that fled the scene, but after further investigation that included an extensive review of video surveillance in the area, the authorities determined that the bicyclist was hit by two cars.
Based on the investigation, Brown was first hit around 11:56 p.m. June 20 by a silver or white early 2000s BMW that was speeding northbound on 105th Avenue. The car fled the scene.
The cyclist was left lying in the roadway when he was struck by a silver Saturn sedan just after 12 a.m. June 21. The male driver of that vehicle stopped and removed part of Brown's damaged bicycle from underneath his car and then drove off.
Investigators found the second vehicle in the area but did not arrest anyone.
An investigation is ongoing.
