Bakersfield, CA.- A bicycle rider was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Bakersfield on Wednesday evening, according to Bakersfield Police Department.
The incident took place on Owens Street and Quincy Street at about 4:50 p.m. May 28.
An 11-year-old was riding a bicycle eastbound on Quincy Street when they were hit by a silver sedan driven south on Owens Street by a woman.
The child was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
The involved driver stayed at the scene and reportedly cooperated with investigators.
Speed and impairment were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
