Rider Killed in Long Beach Bicycle Crash at 17th Street and Oregon Avenue

Long Beach, California (February 18, 2022) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a city employee in Long Beach Friday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The collision occurred on 17th Street and Oregon Avenue at about 7:42 a.m.
Police said the city employee was driving a Ford F250 truck south in the area when they hit a bicycle rider, who reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection.

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police do not believe distracted driving, impairment, or speed were factors in the collision.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
