Brad Catcott ID'd as Bicyclist Killed in Carlsbad Accident on Carlsbad Boulevard near Palomar Airport Road
Carlsbad, California (August 25, 2022) – The cyclist who died when his bicycle collided with a motorcycle on Monday afternoon in Carlsbad has been identified as 68-year-old Solana Beach resident Brad Allen Catcott, as per the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The wreck took place at about 1 p.m. August 15, on Carlsbad Boulevard near Palomar Airport Road.
According to police, a 28-year-old man riding a motorcycle with a 22-year-old female passenger was spotted by a state parks officer speeding and driving recklessly northbound on Carlsbad Boulevard.
The officer tried to stop him but the motorcyclist sped away.
Shortly after, the motorcyclist collided with Catcott, who was riding his bicycle.
Catcott was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The motorcyclist and his passenger were taken to hospital with severe injuries.
The crash remained under investigation.

The motorcyclist sped away but ended up crashing into a cyclist.
The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist and his passenger were hospitalized with severe injuries.
Authorities did not give the identities of the three.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
