Braulio Pioquinto Dies Two Days after North County Car Crash on El Camino Real near Cristianitos Road

North County, California (September 24, 2021) – Authorities have identified the passenger who died Thursday, two days after a traffic collision in North County as Braulio Pioquinto, 21, of Poway.
The crash occurred at around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, on El Camino Real, just north of Cristianitos Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, an 18-year-old Yucca Valley woman was driving a silver Dodge Journey southbound on El Camino Real when she allowed the vehicle to drift to the right and struck two parked cars.
Fatal DUI Car Crash on El Camino Real in North County
Pioquinto, who was a passenger in the Dodge, was transported to a hospital in Orange County in grave condition. On Thursday, September 23, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the Dodge was also taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries before she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
The woman posted bail and was released from custody prior to the death of her passenger. It remains unknown if she would face arrest or charges arising from the passenger's death.
No other details about the crash were immediately provided.
The collision remains under investigation.
