Police reported that Brittany Gieb was walking with her dog when the dog was hit by a driver who fled the scene

Phoenix, AZ.– A woman and her dog were killed in a hit-and-run accident in west Phoenix early Friday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The accident occurred at about 1 a.m. in the area of 51st Avenue and Elwood Street.
Police reported that Brittany Gieb was walking with her dog when the dog was hit by a driver who fled the scene.
As Gieb went to check on her dog, she was struck a second vehicle that also fled the scene.
Both Gieb and her dog were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police reported that one of the vehicles is believed to be a Toyota Tacoma.
The incident is under investigation.
