Carlos Baltazar Killed in Red Bluff Crash on Luther Road near Airport Boulevard

Red Bluff, California (September 16, 2021) – Carlos Sonny Baltazar, 41, of Red Bluff, was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash last Wednesday morning in Red Bluff, according to the Tehama County Coroner's Office.
The crash took place at about 10:15 a.m. September 15, on Luther Road near Airport Boulevard.
CHP said Brandon Lyle Lloyd Spharler, 37, of Red Bluff, was driving a Chevy Silverado on Luther Road when he collided with two pedestrians in the area.

Baltazar was one of the pedestrians and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other pedestrian, Darrin Rasmussen, 51, of Red Bluff, was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with major injuries.
Spharler remained at the scene of the accident and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was booked into the Tehama County Jail and his bail set at $150,000.
The crash is under investigation.
