Carlos Duarte Jr. ID'd as Driver Killed in Bakersfield Car Crash on East Panama Lane
Bakersfield, California (October 11, 2021) – The Kern County Coroner's Bureau has identified the driver who died early Saturday morning following a head-on collision in Bakersfield as Carlos Nathan Duarte Jr., 25, of Bakersfield.
The deadly two-vehicle crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, October 9, in the 3400 block of East Panama Lane.
According to the authorities, Duarte Jr. was driving on East Panama Lane when he lost control of his vehicle, which veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Man Killed in Bakersfield Collision Identified
Duarte Jr. sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other driver did not suffer any injuries.
It is undetermined if intoxication played a role in the collision.

According to data collected by The National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), there were a total of 3,259 car collisions that took place in Bakersfield in 2017. 54 people died as a result of the car accidents while 2,117 others were injured.
