Carlos Hernandez Arrested after Deadly Pico Rivera DUI Crash on Whittier Boulevard

Pico Rivera, California (May 19, 2022) – Carlos Hernandez, 28, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a fatal crash that killed two people in Pico Rivera on Saturday morning, according to authorities.
The incident took place at about 1:15 a.m. on May 14, on Whittier Boulevard, west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.
Hernandez was reportedly driving a black Mercedes sedan eastbound on Whittier Boulevard when he collided with a westbound Honda sedan driven by Angelica Lopez, 62, of Whittier.
Lopez and a passenger in the Mercedes, Nathan Lizarraga, 14, of Whittier, were both killed in the accident.

A woman in her 60's was also in the Honda. She was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities said Hernandez sustained injuries of unknown severity.
Hernandez was also arrested and booked into the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder, DUI, and DUI causing injury. His bail was set at $2 million.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
