Carlos Rivas Among 2 Injured in Fatal Covina Crash on Santa Monica (10) Freeway near Holt Avenue
Covina, California (May 8, 2022) – 22-year-old Carlos Rivas of Los Angeles has been identified as one of the two parties who were injured in a fatal Saturday morning traffic accident in Covina, the CHP said.
The incident took place at around 1:23 a.m. on May 7, on Santa Monica (10) Freeway, east of Holt Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2006 Saturn Vue, driven by Rivas, was traveling westbound on the freeway when it collided with a 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 47-year-old Los Angeles woman.
As a result of the crash impact, the Vue reportedly flipped over.

Sadly, a woman who was a passenger in the VUE succumbed to her injuries in Pomona Valley Hospital.
Rivas was also taken to Pomona Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Accord was treated for minor injuries.
DUI was not suspected of having played a role in the incident.
The crash remained under investigation.
