Cassandra May Killed in Kearny Mesa Accident at Convoy Street and Othello Avenue

Kearny Mesa, California (June 11, 2022) – Cassandra May, 40, was fatally hit by a vehicle operated by a suspected DUI driver on Thursday morning in Kearny Mesa, according to the authorities.
The incident happened in the area of Convoy Street and Othello Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. on June 9.
Authorities said a Tesla was traveling westbound on Othello Avenue when the driver failed to stop for a red light and struck a dip.
The impact caused the Tesla to become airborne and it collided with May, who was walking south on Convoy. The Tesla also struck a tree and a traffic sign, then came to a rest on a small embankment.
May sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Shoat was suspected to be under the influence of drugs and was arrested.
The authorities are investigating the crash.

Kearny Mesa, California (June 9, 2022) – A woman was fatally hit by a vehicle in Kearny Mesa on Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The collision happened at Convoy Street and Othello Avenue when a Tesla heading west on Othello ran a red light at the intersection.
The Tesla hit a dip, and the impact sent the car flying into a woman who was walking southbound on Convoy.
It eventually came to a rest on a small embankment along the intersection.
The woman, a 40-year-old, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Tesla, a 39-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show
Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.
According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increases from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020.
NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
The NHTSA report indicates that the traffic fatalities in the following categories showed relatively large increases in 2021, as compared to 2020:
Fatalities in multi-vehicle collisions went up 16%
Fatalities among drivers 65 and older up 14%
Pedestrian fatalities up 13%
Fatalities in crashes involving at least one large truck up 13%
Daytime fatalities up 11%
Fatalities on urban roads up 16%
Motorcyclist deaths up 9%
Bicyclist deaths up 5%
Fatalities in speeding-related mishaps up 5%
Fatalities in police-reported, alcohol-involvement collisions up 5%
