Santa Maria Resident Cassandra Odom Dies after Bicycle Vs. Car Crash on West Main Street in Santa Maria

Santa Maria, California (July 29, 2022) – A 38-year-old Santa Maria woman died after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle on West Main Street earlier this week in Santa Maria, the Santa Maria Police Department reported on Thursday.
The woman was identified as Cassandra “Cassie' Odom, according to a GoFundMe page created by her family.
The accident happened Monday, July 25, in the 1300 block of West Main Street.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene after receiving reports of a crash involving a bicycle and a car.
Deadly Santa Maria Bicycle Crash on West Main Street
The responders found Odom down in the roadway with critical injuries.
A helicopter was requested to respond and airlift the cyclist to the hospital. Unfortunately, Odom died of her injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police said the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The driver involved stopped and remained at the scene.
Police said drugs and/or alcohol did not appear to have contributed to the accident.
An investigation is ongoing.
