Catherine Velvetrose Hurt in Oakdale Car Accident on Highway 108/120
Oakdale, California (September 8, 2022) – Catherine Mae King Velvetrose, 17, of Mountain House, was among six people injured in a head-on collision that occurred near Oakdale on Wednesday night, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 108/120, just east of Lancaster Road at around 9:20 p.m. on September 7.
CHP said Velvetrose was driving a 2004 Chevrolet SUV westbound on Highway 108/120 when she drifted partially into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Sebastian Ruiz, 20, of Sonora.
Velvetrose was taken to Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale with minor injuries.
Ruiz was pinned inside the pickup and sustained major injuries. He was extricated and transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
One of the passengers in the pickup was taken to Oak Valley Hospital with minor injuries while another three passengers were taken to Modesto trauma centers with major injuries.
The seriously injured parties were airlifted from the site of the collision.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the crash, whose cause remained under investigation.
