Celene Reducindo and Maria Hernandez Killed in Violent Crash on Highway 101 in Santa Margarita
Santa Margarita, California (April 18, 2022) – Celene Reducindo, 47, and Maria Hernandez, 54, have been identified as the passengers who were killed in a car crash on Saturday evening in Santa Margarita.
The deadly crash happened on Highway 101 near Santa Barbara Road at around 8 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Berenice Cortez Pineda, 47, was driving with four other passengers when she pulled into the shoulder of the highway.
At the same time, Felipe Gonzalez, 21, was driving a Suburban when he lost control and crashed into the rear of the parked car.
The impact of the collision caused Pineda's car to catapult about 120 feet and spin counter-clockwise.

Reducindo and Hernandez were passengers in Pineda's car and were killed in the accident.
Pineda and two other passengers, 3-year-old Mia Peralta and 48-year-old Ricardo Gonzalez, received major injuries in the accident and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The other driver, identified only as Felipe Gonzalez, was injured in the accident and was transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton for treatment. He was later arrested on multiple charges.
